Description
Weldtec® Wedge Collets are precision made on CNC machines for exacting tolerances, chrome plated for identity and maximum durability. Useful for all applications, especially extreme conditions such as site work, pipe welding and ACHF welding of aluminum with air cooled torches. The wedge collet design was invented and patented by Mr. Don Watts, a welding instructor in Tacoma WA. This new design did not rely on the tines of the collet to pinch the tungsten electrode but rather pushed or wedged the electrode against the side of the hole in the collet body holding the electrode in place. This had an added benefit in that it created a larger contact surface for better welding current transfer to the electrode resulting in less heat buildup in the collet. No more twisting or buckling and better current transfer all in one.
• Substantially longer collet life
• Improved arc starting and stability
• No twisting or buckling
• Superior current transfer to electrode
• Use with collet body or gas lens
